Small work, stories, and gatherings for young children and their families, popping up around north and northeast Portland.

Little Work

Handwork, parent–child mornings, and gatherings tending the life of home and childhood.

Little Work grows from the daily life of Bread & Blossom: making useful and beautiful things, singing together, preparing food, tending a garden, and finding meaning in the work of our hands.

Some gatherings welcome young children with their grown-ups. Others offer adults time to learn a craft, deepen a household practice, or consider the care of childhood in thoughtful company. Through knitting, doll-making, seasonal handwork, and conversations about family life, we make room for patient learning, practical skill, and friendship.

Around the neighborhood

From time to time, Bread & Blossom wanders out into North and Northeast Portland. You may find us carding wool, planting seeds, making something with our hands, telling a story, or singing together. These neighborhood offerings are free and informal: a place to stop by, stay awhile, and meet us along the way.

Classes & workshops

We also offer small workshops and parent–child series, with time to settle in and learn together. Each listing includes whom the gathering is for, the cost, and how to register.

You are welcome whether or not your family attends Bread & Blossom Preschool.
